My curiosity moves between art, psychology and architecture. In this openness I find a sense of freedom in creating. My work is guided by a fascination with materials, subtle touch and sunlight, leaving quiet fingerprints on every project. Working across scales, from architecture to shaping interiors and occasionally sculpting a piece of jewellery.

Studio Marmi was founded by Kim Degen (1985). She studied architecture at TU Delft. During her studies she developed a strong interest in materials and their tactile qualities. Where materiality in architecture is often experienced from a distance, it finds its most direct expression in the interior.

Alongside her design work, she has explored materiality through hands-on experimentation, including giving concrete workshops at architecture students in Europe. These explorations further deepened her interest in how materials are shaped, touched and experienced.

Working closely with clients and end users, she approaches interiors as the scale at which people truly experience a building. In the touch of materials, the proportions of a space, and the way a place is lived in over time.

Through attention to tactility, proportion and finish, her work seeks to create spaces with a clear identity and a strong sense of human scale.
